Are you ready to improve your golf performance?

Using a simple, highly effective 4-step process to guarantee your success, we cover:

  1. Golf Flexibility
  2. Golf Stability
  3. Golf Strength
  4. Golf Power

Assessment

I bet that when you have a practice swing before you hit the ball on the course, you’re practice shot is perfect but somewhere along the way, your body alters it’s pattern, so when you actually hit the ball, it’s nothing like the practice swing. Sound familiar?

This is mainly because your body is out of balance, which means you may have some muscles that are long and taut and some that are short and tight.

Every body is different and for this reason a golf flexibility assessment is carried out to determine your particular requirements before preparing an individually designed programme.

Here’s what you’ll discover by having a golf flexibility assessment:

Any muscle imbalances or weaknesses
Your core strength
Your postural structure
What areas you need to work on to improve your golf swing

Together we will also look at your golf swing to determine what the main cause of your particular fault is. This can be assessed by a Professional Golf Coach upon request.

Once we have completed the assessment, we can start on the task at hand….the golf fitness exercises.

At this unique Golf Fitness Studio, situated right in the heart of St Andrews, we will be strengthening the golf specific muscles and working on HOW TO ADD YARDS TO YOUR DRIVE.

You will learn all the correct exercises that are specific to your golf swing and essential techniques for increasing the power behind the club.

Flexibility

Flexibility Is Important!

How can stretching help the golfer?

Quite simply, a golfer requires adequate flexibility to be able to play golf to his or her full potential. Some people are naturally flexible, for those who aren’t this can be developed. If you want to avoid injuries such as back, shoulder, wrist, hip and knee injuries or if you have any of these already, then you need to follow a good flexibility programme.

Golf is rotation

Since the golf swing requires the body to rotate almost every joint to its functional capacity, an adequate stretching programme of developmental and maintenance stretching is necessary. If there is a restriction in either the shoulder girdle, torso, pelvis or hips, then the body will compensate in other areas and cause injuries and faults in the golf swing.

For example, restricted shoulder range of motion is a common problem amongst golfers. This is often compensated with excessive spinal rotation which then leads on to back injury because most golfers already lack rotational flexibility in the spine. If the shoulder is restricted and the spine can’t compensate effectively, the golfer will experience excessive head motion or difficulty maintaining an optimal swing plane causing the golfer to hit either fat or thin shots!

If you have reduced flexibility in the shoulder, torso, pelvis or hips you will have REDUCED POWER. This means less distance on the drive, something that I’m sure you don’t want! By following a correct golf-specific stretching programme, performance can be improved in almost every aspect of the game and injuries can be avoided…. so what are you waiting for?

4 Steps To Successful Stretching

Extreme Core Conditioning

If your body is unstable then you will no doubt have trouble with consistency and accuracy, add this to a postural sway and you’ll never have a hope of even reproducing a good shot consistently.

The core muscles are the foundation of the body and these muscles (which form a belt around the trunk) activate around 30 milliseconds before the arms or legs even move. That said, they are absolutely essential to gaining and holding optimal rotation in the backswing and follow-through.

To improve the core muscles, we must first isolate a muscle or muscle group to re-establish neurological communication between the nervous system and the muscle. Then we need to integrate the muscles using dynamic stabilisation exercises.

Many of the exercises in this programme are performed using a Swiss Ball, which is a highly effective fitness tool for really producing a hard-core workout!

If you already suffer from aches and pains, most common in golfers is low back pain, (not to mention, shoulder, neck and knees), then working on achieving a strong core is a necessity in treating the pain and prevention of further injuries.

To improve your posture both on and off the course, you will need some Core conditioning.

Extreme Golf Power

Do you want longer drives than ever before? If you said ‘yes’ then it’s time to TURN ON THE POWER!

Guaranteed to give you the strength and power you need to:

Drive longer than ever before

Improve explosiveness and dynamic strength

Improve game performance

Get around the golf course with no fatigue

Reduce chance of injuries

Consider how fast the clubhead speed is at impact. The more speed, the more powerful the golfer and the greater chance the ball will travel further. Don’t take my word for it, go down to your local driving range today and check out your clubhead speed with your driver. Now relate that to how far your ball is travelling.

Come back to me with your results and let’s see if we can ‘turn on the power’!

Using a series of strengthening exercises with the help of some weights, stability equipment, balls, cable machine and your drive and desire, we can work together to build you the strength and power that is needed for that extra distance.
